What do you like about performing in front of a live audience? It’s beautiful, it’s about never giving up and following your dream. Every time I thought about that movie, I would cry. Steven Spielberg and thank him for giving me a childhood full of dreams and friends and adventures. It’s been quite a journey.ĭid you have a favorite movie you’d watch with your mom? I watched so many movies with my mom growing up, and I dreamed one day I’d live in New York City and do Broadway, and I followed that dream. There was so much text to be memorized, and they said, “Who is going to memorize all this?” I was like, “That would be me,” and I never looked back since. My grandmother was adamant I become a prima ballerina or a famous violinist! When I was in my seventh year of pounding music, the owner of the music academy I was at was looking for a girl to be in the Christmas play. Milans: Well, I started playing violin when I was 3 years old. I heard from a kid who now lives in Germany, and it was very wonderful because they said, “You have kind of been a foster mom to me,” and I’m playing that role now. I spent my teenage years with my mom helping out a lot of foster kids in a nun’s home in Madrid. When I finally got the role, I knew this was who I should play. I want to dedicate my giving back in that regard. I’m always gravitating toward charity work that involves kids, visiting hospitals with sick children. ![]() I come from a big family in Spain with lots of kids, cousins. Milans: Well, I’m not a mom myself, but I’ve always been surrounded by kids. How did you shape your character for this role? I haven’t seen superhero movies address family and empathy from a child’s perspective before. Also, this movie is so full of love, so full of sweetness.
